Birdies For Charity- The time has come once again- the Valero Texas Open is kicking off its series of events and that means the 2008 Birdies for Charity campaign is here! Birdies for Charity is an easy fundraiser in which The Children's Shelter delivers Birdies brochures all over the city. Everyone who recieves a brochure has a chance to pledge money for every birdie made during the 2008 and 2009 Valero Texas Open Golf Tournament. Every cent that a person pledges goes straight to the charity of their choice. That means that The Children's Shelter receives 100% of every penny our donors pledge. Last year we raised over $20,000, making us one of the top ten earning charities. This year, our goal is $22,000. We encourage all to pledge a donation, and the great part is, every person who pledges has an opportunity to guess the number of birdies made at the tournament- the person with the closest guess will win a brand new Buick Enclave. Fore the Children-Fore the Children is a golf tournament to benefit the American Culinary Federation and The Children's Shelter, which will be held beginning at 12:00 noon on Monday, August 11, 2008 at the San Antonio Country Club. Each team will consist of four players; sponsors receive additional recognition opportunities.
