Group Opportunities
Host a Children’s Activity!
Are you a part of a student group, church organization, rotary club, or company department? If so, please consider hosting a Children’s Activity for our children at The Children’s Shelter. Groups are able to visit with the kids and plan activities such as: field trips (with child care staff in attendance), parties, game nights and art projects.
The number of visitors for a group activity is limited to ten people, 18 years or older with a high school diploma or equivalent (including children of visitors). The participating group is responsible for planning and implementing the proposed activity with planning assistance from the Volunteer Coordinator. Be creative! With the safety and confidentiality of the children in mind, there are a plethora of possible activities available that the kids will be thrilled about!

with the group’s name, point of contact’s name, proposed activity or idea, proposed date and time.
Step 3: Volunteer Coordinator will make any necessary suggestions for activity, date or time and when all details are agreed upon, the proposed date will be held as tentative for two weeks to allow the group’s point of contact to complete the required paperwork.
Step 4: The group’s point of contact must complete the ‘Request for Children’s Activity’ with all agreed upon detail and in compliance with the ‘Children’s Activity Guidelines’. The point of contact will review and sign the ‘Visitor Policies’ and distribute a copy of these policies to each participating group member. ‘Request for Children’s Activity’ and signed ‘Visitor Policies’ must be returned within 2 weeks in order to hold the proposed date.
Step 5: If the proposed activity is scheduled to take place at the Woodlawn Emergency Shelter and is the first time the group is hosting an activity at the Shelter, a pre-site visit must be scheduled with the Volunteer Coordinator. Please be in contact with Alyse Lilie to schedule this visit during business hours prior to the scheduled activity date.
